Preparing for Graduation

All programs (Except MSE Electrical Engineering, see below)

  • Instructions on preparing for graduation.
  • An approved Master's Degree Program of Study must be on file. To access the Interactive Program of Study (iPOS), follow these steps:
    • Point your web browser to my.asu.edu.
    • Enter your asurite id and password and click the "Login" button.
    • Upon successfully logging in, click on the " ÒMy Graduate Program of StudyÓ link under the My Programs & Advising section.
    • Follow the online instructions, being certain to click "Save and Continue" after entering information on each page.
  • Apply for graduation through the graduate college (Please note that a POS must be submitted and approved before an application for graduation can be accepted.)
  • How to Apply for Graduation Online:
    • For your convenience, you may apply to graduate online. Please note that a credit card is required.
    • Requirements to apply online:
    • Have an approved Declaration of Graduation (undergraduate students) or program of Study (graduate students) on file.
    • Register for your final semester (graduate students may apply to graduate before registering for their final semester - please see Graduate Students Graduation Deadlines and Procedures for further information).
  • Application for Graduation filing fees: Graduate $45; Late fee, if applicable $35
  • To ensure that your name appears in the ASU commencement book and to avoid paying a late fee, the application must be received by the appropriate deadline.
    • If you're graduating in Fall or Winter, your deadline is October 15
    • If you're graduating in Spring, your deadline is March 31
    • If you're graduating in Summer, your deadline is July 1
  • Your faculty advisor will submit a Report of Final MasterÕs Culminating Experience form for your capstone or applied project to our office. (Please note that a Comprehensive exam may be required for your degree program, please consult with your advisor.)

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • You must be admitted and enrolled in courses during the semester you wish to graduate
  • Your applied project completion date has to be within or prior to the semester you are graduating.
  • Only courses taken within the last six years can be counted toward your degree program and be part of your Program of Study.

  • Submit the Electrical Engineering "sign-up for MSE comprehensive exam" form. Send the completed form via e-mail to darleen.mandt@asu.edu.
  • Submit the Report of Final Master's Culminating Experience form. Send the completed form via e-mail to darleen.mandt@asu.edu.
  • NOTE: YOU MUST BE REGISTERED FOR COURSES IN THE SEMESTER YOU TAKE THE MSE COMPREHENSIVE EXAM. If you have completed your course work then you will need to register for EEE 595 Continuing Registration. Contact darleen.mandt@asu.edu for the approved schedule line number.
