Master of Science Application Deadlines
- Fall Semester: January 15
- Spring Semester: September 15
These dates are the suggested application deadlines to provide ample time for transcripts to be received, application and additional documents to be reviewed and for an admission recommendation to be processed before the start of the semester. If you have any questions regarding the application process, please let us know.
Degree seeking:
Minimum admission requirements include an earned bachelor's of science degree in engineering or mathematics (or computer science for some areas) - related areas of study may be considered by the faculty admissions committee. Students will be expected to hold the proper undergraduate background to pursue graduate engineering education. Admission criteria can vary slightly between degree programs and areas of study based on faculty committee requirements. The ASU Division of Graduate Studies requires a 3.0 GPA in the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate course work. Applicants not meeting admission requirements may still be considered for admission, however they may be required to submit additional supporting documents, current GRE scores and/or be given "conditional" admission. International applicants who currently reside outside the US should select the visa type JN when completing the application. This designation indicates they will not be entering the US. Student visas are not available to online students.
Students who have been admitted into a degree program and have initiated their first course registration will be assigned a faculty advisor who will assist them in developing an official program of study.Non-degree seeking:
Applicants wishing to take courses without pursuing a degree or applicants wishing to pursue the Certificate in Statistics can apply for admission as a non-degree seeking student. Students must hold the proper undergraduate prerequisite background in order to receive faculty approval to enroll in each course. Once an applicant has been admitted as a non-degree seeking student and is seeking to register for a course, CPD will request faculty approval to "waive" prerequisite course requirements. Faculty will notify CPD of their decision based on the student's educational background; the student will then be notified by CPD. Students wishing to change their status to degree seeking must apply for admission with the ASU Division of Graduate Studies. No more the 9 credit hours taken in non-degree status may be later used toward a degree. International applicants who currently reside outside the US should select the visa type JN when completing the application. This designation indicates they will not be entering the US. Student visas are not available to online students.
Admission Status
Following final submission of your online application, you will receive a notice from the ASU Division of Graduate Studies informing you of your ASURITE identification. This ID may then be used to check your graduate admissions status at asu.edu/interactive. This link will allow you to check the most current status of your ASU application and will be available to you 24 hours a day/seven days a week. Additional application status questions may be directed to cpddegreeprograms@asu.edu. You will receive official notification of your admission status directly from the ASU Division of Graduate Studies.
Readmission to the Division of Graduate Studies
Any graduate student who has not been in attendance at the university for one semester must submit an application for readmission to the Division of Graduate Studies. The application should be submitted at least one month before the beginning of the semester in which the student plans to reenter. For details on readmission and other matters relating to the application fee, access the Web site at www.asu.edu/graduate/admissions.
